PALM COAST — Palm Coast tied with Orlando and Sanibel Island for the nation’s 12th most popular destination for vacation rentals in a recent survey of TripAdvisor users.
The national travel website’s ranking was based on ratings given to vacation rental destinations by its users, according to a news release.
Palm Coast, Orlando and Sanibel Island each received an overall score of 4.7 out of a possible five points and were the highest rated among the six Florida destinations that made the top 20 list. The others were Siesta Key (15th place with a 4.69 score), Kissimmee (18th place with a 4.67 score) and Marco Island (tied for 19th place with a 4.66 score).
Asheville, North Carolina was No. 1 on the list with a score of 4.84 points.
Destinations considered for inclusion on the list had to have had at least 1,000 reviews from TripAdvisor users.
Julie Cassetina, a spokeswoman for Newton, Massachusetts-based TripAdvisor, said Palm Coast offers more than 300 vacation rentals that travelers can book on the travel website.
“We are very pleased to see that our destination ranked in the top 20 vacation rentals in the U.S. The owners do a great job maintaining their properties and offer a great value for visitors to stay here,” said Amy Lukasik, director of tourism marketing for the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce.
